Smooth and Soft

We've been using and supplying this tape for many years, and for good reason.

Firetoys tape uses a synthetic fibre with a much finer weave than you will find on other tapes; this makes it very gentle on the hands. This delicate weave can also make it a little slippery when brand new, but some rosin or other grip aid soon takes care of that!

While being soft on the hands, it's also highly durable. So your hands will feel better after longer training sessions while your tape needs replacing less frequently.

"I love this tape! Was enough to wrap my Lyra twice with some left over. The colour is so bright, the tape is really soft and doesn't become sticky after many uses. Definitely worth the price."

One roll to wrap them all

One 50m roll is enough to cover any size of aerial hoop, no matter the tube diameter, and will wrap up to 3 hoops with a tube diameter of 25mm. It has no serrated edge and is easy to tear by hand.

The cloth's durability and roll length make this tape perfect for studios.

Wrapping the hoop is easy and the tape unrolls easily.

  • Start at the bottom of your hoop.
  • Wind your tape up, wrapping around the bar in a spiral, overlapping the tape until you reach the top of the hoop.
  • Start again at the bottom, overlapping the tape by about a hand’s width. Start wrapping in the other direction until you reach the top!

A note about glue

Firetoys tape uses a tight weave on the fabric and a rubber adhesive and is less likely than some other tapes to be sticky. Often, the tape will be a little sticky on the surface after you have taped the hoop. This is normal, it is excess adhesive coming through gaps in the cloth.

This could happen immediately or after the tape has warmed up when you’re training. We always recommend rubbing new tape with chalk to help absorb excess adhesive. You may need to reapply the chalk, but with use, it will no longer be a problem, and you won't need any more chalk.

If you do not use chalk, the new tape can make your hands and clothes sticky.

This can happen with all tape brands we have tested, and it’s inconsistent; some rolls are good, while others are sticky. Warm weather and other conditions can affect it, too. If you have a problem, please let us know. We will be happy to help you!

Customers praised this aerial hoop tape for its excellent grip without stickiness, soft feel, and durability. One roll covers multiple hoops with enough left over. "The best tape I ever tried," said shoppers who appreciated how it doesn't hurt sensitive hands. Some noted initial stickiness requiring chalk. One customer found it too sticky to apply properly.

This is my first time buying tape so I can't compare to other brands, but it feels good and was easy to apply.
It has enough flexibility to accommodate some unusual uses I had for it which required more curve handling than it'd usually expect.

The best tape I ever tried!!!!

Amazing quality. No sticky at all with a great amount of grip. My hands are very sensitive and usual tape hurts too much, so I can't work out. After long research I found that people recommend this tape and decided to give it a try. It was right decision!!! After few months of using it I can not imagine my life without it.
1 piece will be enough for several hoops for sure. I taped 1 hoop and I'm not sure if I even used half of the tape.

Can't wait when all colors will be available again, so I can buy more in different colors.

Not worth the money

I started to dislike Mtape and while browsing firetoys.com I came across this tape and was excited when I read the good reviews.

I was quickly disappointed with the quality of the tape. It was MUCH stickier than Mtape and impossible to put on properly. (I have taped many hoops in the past 13 years so incorrect taping strategy does not come into play.)

Overall the quality was equal if not lower than the mtape and was not worth the $24 I spent when I could have just purchased the mtape online or in store.

I love fire toys and they will always be my go to. But I wouldn't recommend purchasing this tape.

Very happy

I bought the black tape, and I'm very pleased with it. Easy to wrap an aerial hoop with, the tape is great quality and hasn't become sticky. Would definitely buy again.

Great quality Fast shipping

This tape is the best I've found, I change tape once a year on my hoops because the grip is so good and it holds for so long. In the first 2 training sessions it will be a bit sticky but after 2 runs it will become just perfect.
Also, kudos Firetoys for a less than 24 hours shipping!!!

I bought this tape for our new Ninja equipment for kids that came as powder coated metal. It was way to slick for sweaty little hands. The tape is holding up great and gives exactly the grip we need.

The Goldilocks of tape. Not too sticky, not too grippy - just right!

Having used M-tape for years I recently bought a roll of 50m Roll Of Firetoys Aerial Adhesive Tape and I won't be going back! Unlike m-tape this wasn't overly stick for the first few sessions and it didn't need any chalk to soak up the excess adhesive.

Due to its finer weave this tape has a lovely silky feel while still giving you enough grip.

It did take me a little while to get used to the bigger roll but once I had adjusted I was able to get a very good, tight wrap on my hoop, helped by the slight give in the tape.

Perfect, hard wearing and grip without stickiness

Some years ago I bought a roll of the narrower version of this tape. It was for the handholds on my racing sidecar outfit. Now I am prepping another one and needed a different colour. Saw this wider version and ordered it. The previous one has held up to a good few seasons now and this is the same but wider (easier to apply for me). It provides good grip but without the stickiness that could cause a slight delay. During fast position changes it means the difference between staying on or falling off. Love this tape!

Beautiful tape

I bought the red tape and I love it. The colour is beautiful and the tape isn't sticky after applying (a problem I had with a lot of other tapes)

excellent, sticky on the bottom, not on the top!

Having had some totally excellent tape from Unicycle a few years ago, I recently reordered from them and received the worst tape EVER which was so sticky on the surface it remained unusable after copious amounts of chalk application and clothes getting stuck to it. I had a performance coming up, and you just can't do it when you're sticking to your trapeze bar! So in an emergency I ordered some of this Firetoys tape in the hopes it would save the day! It arrived very promptly and is excellent cotton tape, sticky on the bottom and not on the top, exactly as it should be! Thanks firetoys and please don't change the recipe! :-D

Ace tape

This tape is excellent for aerial hoop, one 50m roll does 3 hoops, lasts well and not too hard on the hands.

Quality Product

This tape seems to be a high quality tape. It was enough to wrap my Lyra and there appears to be enough left to wrap a second Lyra. I was not sure about paying this price for tape, but I'm happy with it, so I'm glad I did.

A very good product

I bought this tape a month ago and it has been used in classes regularly since. So far it is holding up well so I will be buying it again.

It was delivered at the same time as an aerial hoop. The hoop box got a hole in the cardboard so it was lucky the tape did not fall out. I suggest that Firetoys tape loose items within the larger box so items are not lost if the outer packaging is damaged.

The products were delivered super fast. Very impressive!

Easy to apply, not sticky

I found this tape to be great quality, it did wrap the one hoop, with some left over. I like to double wrap the bottom of my hoop. It wasn't sticky, even after using for hours. It did go a bit stringy but that's to be expected, it's great tape, worth the money

pretty darn good

I am happy with this tape, I really like the feel of it. At first some wispy strings were shedding from the edges of the tape but once those came off I haven't had a problem.

Excellent resistant tape

I have been using this tape for years on my different hoops for my classes and personal use and I really think it's a great product. It doesn't get sticky when the hoop heats up during intensive use and it's a nice comfortable grip. It's definitely worth paying the price for such a quality product.

Just what I was looking for

Having bought some modern handlebar tape last year to wrap the handholds on our racing sidecar, I found I trashed it in short order. What I needed was something more robust and quite a lot of it. It never occurred to me that trapeze people have a similar need to me. The internet educated me to that and I found this site and the trapeze tape - excellent. One happy sidecar monkey :-)

The best tape I've found for dressing trapeze and aerial hoop.

This is the best cotton tape I have found for dressing trapeze and aerial hoops.

The cotton surface has a soft handle to it, and the glue is firm but does not have such a tendency found in other tapes to make the outer surface sticky. This means that this tape gives a good grip when needed, but also allows freedom to slide on its soft surface when needed in performance.

Another valuable feature is that, unlike other tapes I have tried, this tape has enough elasticity in it to make it easily conform to the complex curvatures encountered when dressing hoops or the splices on trapeze ropes. This means that it is easy to dress with a smooth surface without forming folds in the tape as it is wound round the complex curves.

To get the best from this tape, it is necessary to dress the hoop or trapeze in the right way.

When dressing an aerial hoop, start applying the tape from the bottom of the hoop, and winding the tape in a spiral up one side, whilst pulling the tape tight so it stretches round the curve and makes a completely smooth surface. Then start again at the bottom and wind up the other side. This will result in all the exposed tape edges facing downwards. This prevents the problem with upward facing edges forming slight projections which impede sliding of hands and bodies, and cause the edges to roll over and form larger projections. By only winding the tape upwards, no projections are formed and the tape will remain smooth all over.

Similarly; when dressing the rope splices on trapeze, always start at the bottom and work upwards for the same reason.
