The bigger sibling to our 5.5m Aerial Rig, this extra large version boasts an extra metre of height whilst still remaining incredibly stable even under high winds. 

As this is an extended version of our big rig, it can also be built up to the existing 4.5m and 5.5m heights if you don't need all of it at once.

The Firetoys BigRig XL has been fully strength tested and comes with certified working load limit (WLL) of 157kg. Destructive tests at an external professional load testing house were carried out to certify this rig.

Extra Height, Same Stability

The Firetoys Big Rig XL is suitable for a wide range of aerial apparatus and is ideal for festivals, outdoor events, or even putting in the garden if you have one big enough!

The crane bar has five rigging points: three central and two for safety lines and pulley setups. The crane features a central solid plug for load distribution. The legs all feature chest-height connection points for tying off or connecting carabiners.

Designed for Portability

The portable construction of this rig means you can take it out and about, whether you're performing at an event or just practicing in or outside!

The BigRig is made from corrosion-resistant aluminium and galvanized steel, making it suitable for outdoor use.

Note: as with all metallic components, over extended periods of time exposed to the elements, some aesthetic degradation may occur, especially in harsh coastal environments. For this reason, we suggest dismantling the rig and storing it indoors when not in
use for extended periods of time.

The rig can also be easily transported into and out of venues for performances or workshops. The grip on the base of the feet will provide traction without damaging floors, allowing it to be set up without issue. The feet can also be bolted to the floor if you intend a semi-permanent indoor installation.

This rig's aluminium is corrosion resistant, making this trapeze rig suitable for permanent outdoor use.

Construction

Our aerial rig has been fully CAD-designed and engineered to give it the optimal strength-to-weight ratio. We have fully developed and manufactured these rigs in the UK. All spigots are machined in-house to reduce tolerances, and all joins are engineered to ensure exact fits before welding to maximise bonded areas. These include high-precision twinned bird's mouth cuts and bespoke gusseting.

We've used high-penetration industrial TIG welding to ensure the strongest bonds. This type of welding is more robust and predictable than MIG and other welding techniques. All seams are triple welded for ultimate strength: a root pass, a second pass, and a weaved capping pass. This means the welds penetrate 70% of the aluminium wall (resulting in up to 10mm of precision welded material).

Made to Measure

Our latest generation of BigRigs all come with custom-made floor straps. The BigRig XL comes in 3 sizes, one for each of its main heights.

These are specially designed and stitched on our industrial serger out of high-tensile webbing to sit perfectly flat on the ground while keeping the rig's feet in tension using high-strength steel hooks. This allows for a consistent footprint and height while reinforcing the rig for any dynamic movements.

They can also be used to lay out the footprint of your rig before construction to check where it best fits in the space, saving you time and hassle.
The footprints are as follows:

  • Full height: 6.5m (H) x 8.5m (W) x 8.2m (L)
  • Medium height: 5.5m (H) x 6.8m (W) x 6.4m (L)
  • Low height: 4.5m (H) x 5.4m (W) x 4.8m (L)

Awesome Piece of kit

This is a really impressive bit of kit. If you are fit and you know what you are doing it is easy to put up with a little bit of practice. And it does fit in a car but think hard about where the poles will go if you are shunted. We have used it to great effect and we love it. there are effectively 5 hang points. If you are using silks for workshops I reccommend hanging them from a pulley so if your student gets tangled you can lower them. I think it is well worth the money.

brillant rig, great service

Really pleased with the rig. It is well made and fits together really easily. Two of us had it set up in no time. The fact that each leg is in four parts makes it possible to fit in my car as well as making storage much easier. I asked if it could be delivered in time for my first show, which while they did not have any in stock Firetoys managed to make sure it was delivered in time. Brilliant rig, great service.

Best Thing I've ever bought!

I am completely over the moon with this rig I've had it for almost a year and don't know how I could live without it!!
It's so easy to put up (me and my sister can do it in 15 minutes!) and take down, venues are always surprised by how quickly we've gone once we've finished our performance.
It's very steady and strong and FITS IN MY CAR!!! With all of our dance floor, crash mat and props.
The feet and straps could do with being a bit more substantial (more for my peace of mind) but they've been tested so I'll trust that, also Firetoys have answered all my many many questions when I've called up, their customer service is top notch!
I'd recommend getting some silicone to go between your carabiners and the eyelets as if you sway then it can make a clicking sound as it moves over the imprinted numbers on the eyelet.

Big rig

Put this together with ease. Perfect for all aerial arts. Construction is of a very high quality. Feel confident that this will last a very long time. Well worth paying a little more for something of this standard.

Perfect for training

Really pleased with the rig. The assembly is as easy as the video and after a few practices we could put this up simply with just two people. It is very sturdy and perfect for training on various pieces of circus equipment. My only criticism would be the detachable feet which are of a lesser quality and we would consider replacing. Overall, the product was perfect for our needs and will enjoy many hours of use! 5 stars

Oooh...

I put this rig up for the first time today and am delighted at its simplicity and its stability.
The leg pins make putting it up so much safer than other similar rigs I've known and as it says, it goes up in minutes.
The whole thing fits into the back of my car with room left over for the kit and a crash mat.
It's great to hang from, feels really secure and it's SO SHINY!
